Scrapbooking Ideas and Techniques - Making Your Own Monograms

Making Your Own Monograms

Navigation: Home < Scrapbooking Ideas < Making Your Own Monograms

To make your own monograms using Microsoft Word:

  • CuttingOpen a new document and insert a Wordart textbox.
  • Type the letter you need and select a font and size.
  • Using the draw menu, flip the letter horizontally.
  • Print the letter on the wrong side of the cardstock and hand-cut with scissors or a craft knife.

If you don't have a computer, try the same technique using a stencil. Simply flip it over and trace the outline on the reverse of your cardstock. Continue as above.

Ideas for using Monograms:

  • Names - first letter of a person's name
  • Months - O is for October
  • Seasons - A is for Autumn
  • Places - Cities or Countries
  • Events - A for Anniversary, B for Birth
  • Emotions - H for Happy

You can also use this technique to make letters of any size - perhaps to spell a whole word.
